Stream 1: General Administration Services

1.4.0 Technical Writer

1.4.1 Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  1. planning, researching and writing manuals, specifications and other non-journalistic articles;
  2. analyzing material, such as specifications, notes and drawings, and writing manuals, user guides and other documents to explain clearly an concisely the installation, operation and maintenance of electronic, mechanical and other equipment;
  3. modifying, validating and compiling technical documents such as technical publications in general, specifications, performance test sheets, equipment and system data lists and drawings;
  4. reviewing documents, drawings and associated data for conformance to established standards;
  5. design the layout of the documents/manuals;
  6. uses word-processing, desk-top publishing and graphics software packages to produce final camera ready copy.

1.4.2 Occupational Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

A. Junior Technical Writer

M.1 Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2 Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Technical Writer.

B. Intermediate Technical Writer

No. Description of Criterion
M.1 Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2 Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Technical Writer.

C. Senior Technical Writer

No. Description of Criterion
M.1 Must have a minimum of a university undergraduate degree OR a college diploma/certificate in any field.
M.2 Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Technical Writer.

OR

No. Description of Criterion
M.1 Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2 Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Technical Writer.
