3.4.0 Telecommunication Technician

3.4.1 Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

1. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on telecommunication system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, microwave, satellite, network, and telecom;
2. Recommends telecommunication system level solutions to address discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to equipment and specifications;
3. Liaises with telecommunication sub-system technical to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability;
4. Supports the preparation, planning and development of procurement documentation, such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs, for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items;
5. Conducts design, technical and management reviews to monitor and advise on progress and potential problems;
6. Conducts telecommunication system integration testing and evaluation;
7. Analyzes telecommunication system deficiencies and recommends appropriate solutions;
8. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on the suitability of industry documentation;
9. Develops test plans for prototypes and full system tests; and
10. Conducts technical definition studies and options analyses.

3.4.2 Occupational Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

A. Junior Telecommunication Technician

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Telecommunications Technician.

B. Intermediate Telecommunication Technician

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Telecommunications Technician.

C. Senior Telecommunication Technician

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a university undergraduate degree OR a college diploma in any field.
M.2	Must have a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a Telecommunications Technician.

OR

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of nine (9) years of experience as a Telecommunications Technician.
