3.5.0 Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technologist

3.5.1 Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

1. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on PBX system and sub-system interface documentation;
2. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendation for solutions for PBX system level for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to equipment and specifications;
3. Liaises with PBX sub-system technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability;
4. Conducts PBX system integration, testing, analysis and evaluation services;
5. Prepares documentation related to PBX, including technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs, for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items;
6. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations relating to PBX system components and associated documentation;
7. Contributes to the design, technical, and management reviews to monitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems related to PBX;
8. Analyzes PBX system deficiencies and recommends cost effective solutions;
9. Reviews and reports upon the suitability of industry documentation on PBX Systems; and
10. Conducts technical definition studies and options analysis related to PBX.
11. Review, analyze and evaluate network monitoring and performance tools/reports. Determine and advise on required corrective action(s) for system performance and availability enhancements;
12. Review and analyze PBX traffic studies and network management data, and provide timely recommendations;
13. Analyze and identify, from a technology perspective, new service requirements for connectivity or feature enhancement.

3.5.2 Occupational Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

A. Junior Private Branch Exchange Technologist

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Private Branch Exchange Technologist.

B. Intermediate Private Branch Exchange Technologist

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Private Branch Exchange Technologist.

C. Senior Private Branch Exchange Technologist

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a univerisity undergraduate degree OR a college diploma/certificate in any field.
M.2	Must have a minimum of six (6)years of experience as a Private Branch Exchange Technologist.

OR

No.	Description of Criterion
M.1	Must have a minimum of a secondary school graduate diploma/certificate.
M.2	Must have a minimum of nine (9) years of experience as a Private Branch Exchange Technologist.
