Five Canadian shipyards have been short-listed to build the large vessels under the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS). They are:
The NSPS Secretariat and the five short-listed shipyards met for the fourth time on January 7, 2011, in Ottawa, to discuss the procurement process.
During the day long meeting the shipyards were presented with an update on: the shipyard selection framework; the evaluation methodology; and the Umbrella Agreement. The meeting provided an opportunity for shipyards to comment on the draft procurement documents.
The NSPS Secretariat is committed to ongoing industry engagement throughout the procurement process. The short-listed shipyards had earlier met with the NSPS Secretariat on October 12 & 13, 2010, on November 8 & 9, 2010 and on December 4, 2010.
Shipyards are scheduled to meet again with the NSPS Secretariat on January 27, 2011, to further refine and finalize the procurement documents. The Request for Proposal will be issued in late-January 2011.
