4.3 The Greenhouse Effect

The sun heats the Earth of which 22% is reflected by the atmosphere, 17% escapes into the atmosphere, 9% is reflected by surface or dust and haze in the air and 20% is absorbed by the surface. The infrared radiation is emitted by clouds and gases creating greenhouse gases.
