Real Property Business and Systems Transformation - NOVUS
Targeted for "go-live" in 2013/14, the Real Property Business and Systems Transformation Project is designed to improve the way Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Real Property manages and administers real property for the federal government. It will achieve this through the national adoption of industry-standard real estate business processes supported by an integrated information technology system. The combined solution – known as NOVUS [nō-vus] – will integrate the functionality of all or most of the existing stand-alone systems, resulting in improved efficiency and effectiveness of day-to-day information management.
In March 2011, Accenture was awarded a contract to define the NOVUS solution, complete its preliminary development and outline a change management plan that facilitates the transition to standardized business processes and tools. A key requirement is to ensure Real Property core business needs are met, including support for:
- Stewardship and service delivery functions by providing reliable information to demonstrate performance, and through improved information interoperability with private sector service providers;
- Enterprise decision-making ability by providing complete, accurate and timely information to support effective and strategic decisions; and
- Resource efficiency through the automation, integration and alignment of real property functions resulting in increased productivity.
Ultimately, NOVUS will enable better ways of working and will enhance decision-making and reporting capabilities. It will allow government to do more and achieve better results.
