    What is myKEY?

    myKEY has several aliases such as PKI Key, ID-based Certificate, Entrust Profile or PKI Certificate. As part of introducing an online method of acquiring an ID-based credential, we also branded the product with the name myKEY.

    How do I get myKEY?

    If you are a full time employee of the GC, you can acquire myKEY by contacting your Local Registration Authority (LRA) or you can use the Online Registration and Credential Administration (ORCA) to “sign up”.

    How does a non-GC employee (contractor) get myKEY?

    Until ORCA can accommodate contractors, they will continue to acquire myKEY through an LRA. The same can be said for Device, Application and Group keys.

    How do I change my password?

    You can change your password by accessing the Entrust product on your desktop computer.

    Lost or Forgotten Password?

    1. If you obtained your myKEY through an LRA, you must contact your LRA to perform a recovery of your myKEY. In a future release of ORCA, you will be able to migrate your myKEY over to ORCA so that this functionality is available to you.
    2. If you are from a department issuing it's own PKI ID based credentials (i.e. CRA/CBSA, CSEC, RCMP), please contact your departmental credential provider for assistance.
    3. If you obtained your myKEY through ORCA, please return to ORCA and click on right hand menu item that says "Lost or Forgotten Password". (https://eajl-orca.securise-secure.gc.ca/O/vw/bienvenue-welcome-eng.pub)This link is available only to clients with access to GC Intranet, the Government of Canada Extranet.

    Lost or Need a myKEY?

    1. If you lost your myKEY:
      1. If you obtained your myKEY through an LRA, you must contact your LRA to perform a recovery of your myKEY. In a future release of ORCA, you will be able to migrate your myKEY over to ORCA so that this functionality is available to you.
      2. If you are from an organization issuing its own PKI ID based credentials (i.e. CRA/CBSA, CSEC, RCMP), please contact your organizational credential provider for assistance;
      3. If you obtained your myKEY through ORCA, please return to ORCA to recover your myKEY at: https://eajl-orca.securise-secure.gc.ca/O/vw/bienvenue-welcome-eng.pub.This link is available only to clients with access to GC Intranet, the Government of Canada Extranet.
    2. If you have never had a myKEY and require one:
      1. If are from an organization issuing its own PKI ID based credentials (i.e. CRA/CBSA, CSEC, RCMP), please contact your organizational credential provider for assistance;
      2. If your organization is listed on the following webpage, please use ORCA, to Sign Up for myKEY: http://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/gji-icm/09/eajl-orca-eng.html;
      3. If your organization is not listed on the webpage in « b. ii » above, please contact your LRA for assistance. Your organizational service desk should have a list of LRAs within your organization.

    What can I use myKEY for?

    myKEY has all of the same functionalities as what we used to call Entrust profile or PKI Certificate. myKEY can be used for:

    • Secure remote access
    • Secure messaging
    • Securing data in a database, on a desktop or in transit
    • Data input and exchange
    • E-commerce solutions

    Does myKEY use session cookies?

    myKEY Registration and Recovery functions do not require session cookies. The online credential creation and self management modules will require session cookies. These cookies will expire after 20 minutes of inactivity.

    Is the myKEY system safe?

    Yes. The myKEY system is based on technology which provides strong authentication and encryption. In fact, once registered with myKEY, you can use this technology to enhance the security of your other applications.

    I have changed my name. Is myKEY affected?

    Yes. You currently need to contact your Departmental Help Desk or LRA in order to have this request processed.
