OSME - Success Stories: Spill Green
Spill Green Taps into Government Markets
Mr. Glenn Burton, President of Spill Green, Inc., was sure there was a market for his products within the federal government. His company, based in Newmarket, ON, specializes in environmentally-friendly products which remediate and clean up oil, acid, fuel and other spills. Having difficulty making contacts, Mr. Burton contacted OSME for assistance.
OSME staff helped Mr. Burton identify key contacts in his region at departments and agencies such as Fisheries & Oceans, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Coast Guard. Mr. Burton was also able to learn about the size and scope of procurement requests and how the federal government could purchase his products through standing offers or RFP processes on MERX.
Additionally, OSME put Mr. Burton in touch with the Office of Greening Government Operations at Public Works & Government Services Canada so he could provide feedback on how the government purchases environmentally-friendly products. Providing feedback to government on issues important to businesses is a clear benefit to being connected to the right people. "Hopefully, new ‘green’ standards and criteria will be in place for products that remediate oil, fuel and acid spills very soon!" said Mr. Burton.
OSME helps many companies by linking them to the departments and the people who work with their industries and can benefit from their expertise in specialized fields. What can OSME do for you?
