Serving Canadians

Although PWGSC works primarily with other Government of Canada departments and agencies, our work directly affects Canadians, and many of our services are available to the public.

  • The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises - The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) in Ontario Region supports the Government of Canada's commitments to ensure that government procurement is: Accountable, Cost effective and Responsive.

  • French River and Lake Nipissing - The Government of Canada owns and operates three dams on Lake Nipissing at the headwaters of the French River. The Big Chaudière Dam, Little Chaudière Dam and Portage Dam each play a critical role in effective water management.

  • Burlington Canal Lift Bridge - The Burlington Canal Lift Bridge is located on the western shore of Lake Ontario on a site rich in history. The bridge spans the Burlington Canal that was opened in 1826. Once a narrow cut, the canal now provides Burlington Bay (Hamilton Harbour) with navigable access to the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Kingston LaSalle Causeway - PWGSC is the custodian and operator of the LaSalle Causeway in Kingston.  The Causeway consists of seven interconnecting engineered structures including two approaches, a concrete bridge, a fixed truss bridge, the bascule lift bridge, and two wharves. Approximately 23,000 vehicles cross the Causeway daily. The bascule lift bridge also provides marine access to the inner harbour of Kingston and access to the southern entrance of the Rideau Canal.
