Real Property Expertise
Western Region's Real Property professionals provide productive working environments for public servants on behalf of the Government of Canada, and manage a diverse portfolio of office space and other general-purpose property. We also provide professional and technical services to federal departments and agencies for the acquisition, management, operation, maintenance, construction, repair and disposal of real property and provide a range of environmental remediation and consultation services.
Acquisitions and Compensation Services
Western Region Acquisitions functions include contracting for goods and services, administering real property contracts and disposing of surplus Crown Assets. Its services are delivered over the largest geographic area of any supply organization in PWGSC. Clients include a number of organizations unique to or headquartered in the Region, such as Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration, the National Energy Board and the Canadian Grain Commission. Acquisitions also facilitates seminars on a variety of topics to assist suppliers and federal departments and agencies that want to do business with the Government of Canada. Western Region Compensation Services provides support, training, and advice to federal departments and agencies in the processing of Public Service pay and benefits.
Information Technology Services
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides expertise in common information management and technology services to facilitate universal access to information by the federal government. ITS is the common services agent for information technology telecommunications infrastructure to more than 60 federal departments and agencies in Western Region. ITS also manages the Winnipeg Cheque Production Centre, one of three in Canada that issues cheques and documents for the Receiver General for Canada.
Translation Bureau
The Translation Bureau provides quality translation and linguistic services in 150 languages, including sign language, to approximately 60 federal departments and agencies in Western Region.
Audit Services Canada
Audit Services Canada (ASC) provides audit-related services in a commercially-oriented, business-like manner to other federal departments and agencies, and to provincial, territorial and Aboriginal governments. ASC operates under the authority a $30 million revolving fund, and has a mandate to recover costs from revenues.
Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME)
Situated in Edmonton, Western Region’s OSME represents small and medium enterprises, helps them understand the government’s procurement system, and increases opportunities for them to do business with government. This includes providing seminars on selling goods and services to the Government of Canada, analyzing data on the economic benefits of government procurement, and providing input to policy to improve supplier access to procurement opportunities.
