PREMIUMS PAID BY THE EMPLOYER -- JUDGES PLAN

  1. BASIC LIFE INSURANCE

    1. Premium Rates

      | Effective January 1, 2011, the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) pays (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.371 per $1,000 of Basic Life Insurance coverage for each eligible employee.

      From January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2010, the TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.675 per $1,000 of Basic Life Insurance coverage for each eligible employee.

      From January 1, 1992, to December 31, 2009, the TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.90 per $1,000 of Basic Life Insurance coverage for each eligible employee.

      Prior to January 1, 1992, the TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.36 per $1,000 of Basic Life Insurance coverage for each eligible employee.

    2. Premium Holiday Periods

      • | January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2011;
      • January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2008;
      • January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2007;
      • January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2006;
      • January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2000;
      • January 1, 1999, to September 30, 1999; and
      • January 1, 1993, to August 31, 1993.
  2. ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE (AD&D)

    1. Premium Rates

      Effective January 1, 2002, TBS pays (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $2.50 per $250,000 of AD&D coverage for each eligible employee.

      Prior to January 1, 2002, TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.50 per $1,000 of AD&D insurance units up to a total of $5.00 for each eligible employee.

    2. Premium Holiday Periods

      • January 1, 1997, to December 31, 1997;
      • January 1, 1996, to December 31, 1996;
      • January 1, 1991, to December 31, 1991; and
      • January 1, 1990, to December 31, 1990.
  3. DEPENDANTS' LIFE AND ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE.

    1. Premium Rates

      Effective January 1, 2002, TBS pays (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $1.50 for the dependants' insurance of each eligible employee. Note: As of this date Judges are allowed to refuse this insurance if they have no dependants.

      From January 1, 1997, until December 31, 2001, TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $1.50 for the dependants' insurance of each eligible employee.

      From January 1, 1994, to December 31, 1996, TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $1.00 for the dependants' insurance of each eligible employee.

      Prior to January 1, 1994, TBS paid (except during premium holiday periods) a monthly premium of $0.67 for the dependants' insurance of each eligible employee.

    2. Premium Holiday Periods

      Note: No premium holiday period occured for this insurance.

  4. LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE (LTD)

    Note: Persons who are judges under the Judges Act are not eligible to join the Long-term Disability Insurance (LTD) of the Public Service Management Insurance Plan (PSMIP).
