Struck Off Strength Transaction (SOS)

The SOS transaction is used to report the termination of employment of an employee/plan member. The termination reason also has to be reported; please refer to the Special Advice to Crown Corporations 2010-003, ARCHIVED Appendix A for the termination reason codes.

Struck Off Strength Date

The SOS transaction is used to report the termination of employment of an employee/plan member.

Penfax will reject all transactions (TOS (taken on strength), SOS, STS (status change)) if the Effective From Date is greater than 30 days from the date you upload the file.

Example 1:

  • SOS - November 01, 2010
  • Upload to Data Capture Tool (DCT) - October 01, 2010

As there are more than 30 days between October 01, 2010 and November 01, 2010, this will generate an error in Penfax.

Example 2:

  • SOS - December 01, 2010
  • Upload to DCT - November 24, 2010

As less than 30 days between November 24, 2010 and December 01, 2010, this will then post to Penfax.

Struck Off Strength Following Maternity/Parental LWOP

When an employee terminates employment before returning from a Maternity/Parental leave without pay, report a Status Change (STS) transaction to provide the date of birth or adoption of the child (if not previously reported). The date of birth/adoption is required to calculate leave without pay deficiencies and must be reported as soon as the date is known.

Amending a Struck Off Strength Date

Report a STS transaction to change the Effective From Date of a previous SOS. The following inputs are required in the status screen:

  1. Input the originally reported SOS date in the field Effective From Date;
  2. Input the new date in the field SOS Date.
