Quebec Parental Insurance Plan – Changes to the Statement of Earnings, the T4 and the Relevé 1

The purpose of this notice is to inform you of changes to your statement of earnings for 2007, and the T4 and Relevé 1 forms for 2006 as a result of the introduction of the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP).

This information notice should be read in conjunction with the information notice to employees entitled " Quebec Parental Insurance Plan Implementation and Rates -- 2006 Taxation Year ".

The QPIP premiums have been withheld from your salary since January 1, 2006.

Currently, the amount of the QPIP premiums withheld from your pay appears on the bottom portion of your statement of earnings under "Entitlements and other deductions". On January 1, 2007, your QPIP premiums will appear in the upper portion of your statement of earnings in the box now referred to as "Quebec Savings Bonds" which will be renamed to Provincial Parental Insurance Plan (PPIP).

The upper portion of the box will show the actual amount of the QPIP premiums that was withheld from your current payment. The bottom portion of the box will be shaded in gray and will show the year to date amount of the QPIP premiums for the taxation year.

Commencing with the issuance of the 2006 T4s and the Relevé 1s, these forms will be modified to include your premiums collected as QPIP deductions and the associated insurable earnings. The Relevé 1 box will refer to this as QPIP whereas the T4 will refer to PPIP.

Any request for information contained in this notice should be addressed to your compensation advisor.
