Message to Government of Canada employees regarding acting pay
I want to take this opportunity to update you on the processing of past actings.
As I mentioned in my last message, we recently implemented an enhancement in the Phoenix pay system that automatically processes retroactive payments for past actings. This enhancement will automate and speed up payments that required manual calculations in the past.
We have close to 100,000 actings awaiting processing in the Public Service Pay Centre, which represents approximately 30% of our current workload. To manage this large volume of work effectively, past acting transactions will be processed in a controlled and focused manner between now and June.
As of March 22, the first group of employees will start to receive their acting payments. Employees who receive their acting pay may also see adjustments for items such as allowances and benefits in the weeks following receipt of their acting pay as we finalize the implementation of the system enhancement.
Moving forward, we will process batches every pay, and we expect to process all past acting cases by the end of June.
Employees can consult a more detailed pay stub, available under the Pay stubs and archived tax slips section of the Compensation Web Applications website, for a breakdown of earning details, including date ranges.
