From: Public Services and Procurement Canada
Any taxing authority that disagrees with a payment it has received may request a review to the Payments in Lieu of Taxes Dispute Advisory Panel (PILT DAP).
Important
While continuing to employ appropriate COVID-19 protocols until the pandemic is rescinded, the PILT DAP has resumed its activities effective July 2nd, 2020 and will be accepting applications for review, re-activating case management and when required holding hearings via the appropriate electronic media such as Zoom.
About the Dispute Advisory Panel
The Payments in Lieu of Taxes Dispute Advisory Panel provides advice to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement to resolve disputes about payments in lieu of taxes between the federal government and local taxing authorities.
The panel has the mandate to provide advice pertaining to the resolution of disputes about property value, property dimension or effective rate used to calculate payments in lieu of taxes, or about a claim for a late payment supplement.
The panel also provides advice to the heads of Crown corporations who exercise their own discretion concerning their respective corporation's payments in lieu of taxes.
Please refer to the panel's Rules of Practice, which detail the rules and procedures relating to a taxing authority's application for a review by the panel, the preparation of a hearing and the hearing itself.
