Lane reductions and closures on interprovincial bridges in the National Capital Region
Five interprovincial crossings in the National Capital Region connect the Ottawa and Gatineau regions. Stay up to date on construction projects involving these bridges.

Expected bridge construction and lane closures
Macdonald-Cartier Bridge
- In the coming months:
- Occasional short term lane closures normally scheduled during off peak-hours
Alexandra Bridge
- From Saturday, January 2, to Friday, April 30
- Alexandra Bridge closed to vehicular traffic
- The boardwalk will remain accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.
- From March 2020 (until further notice)
- Load restrictions of 27 tonnes, applied to all types of vehicles
Portage Bridge
- Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 9 am to 3 pm
Chaudiere Crossing
