Committee on voluntary labelling of foods obtained or not obtained through genetic modification 32/25

The Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) has a National Standard of Canada titled CAN/CGSB-32.315 Voluntary labelling and advertising of foods that are and are not products of genetic engineering.

The standard was written in 2004 and reaffirmed in 2016.

The standard was assessed by a committee of volunteers of subject matter experts and determined to be still applicable as a voluntary standard to Canada without technical change.

CGSB will continue to have the standard available until at least year 2020 on the CGSB website.

The standard will require systematic technical review beginning in 2018. (As a National Standard of Canada, a standard must begin review within 5 years of publication.)
