Following Order in Council P.C. 2024–1073, and pursuant to section 216 of the Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023, chapter 15 of the Statutes of Canada, 2024, the Canada Water Agency Act was enacted, establishing the Canada Water Agency, effective October 15, 2024.

Order in Council P.C. 2025–0415, designated the Minister of Canadian Heritage as the appropriate minister for the Parks Canada Agency, effective March 14, 2025. Prior to the transfer, non-statutory expenditures of approximately $894,236,890 were approved by the Minister of the Environment. Previous year's amounts have been restated by $1,452,548,433.
