Subject: Modification to the Central Index System Inquiry Screen

1. Purpose

1.1. The purpose of this directive is to provide information on a recent modification to the Central Index System (CIS).

2. Background

2.1. In the past, users of the CIS could initiate a search in the Inquiry Screen by completing any of the primary fields, including the family name and initial fields. The search criteria has now been modified to ensure accuracy of the search results.

3. Procedures and Instructions

3.1. Effective April 21, 2011, users are no longer able to search based on family name. The users need to enter the Social Insurance Number (SIN), Personal Record Identifier (PRI), Individual Agency Number (IAN) or pension number in order to retrieve the account information from the CIS.

3.2. Section 19-7 of the Personnel-Pay Input Manual (PPIM) will be updated to incorporate the relative information contained in this directive.
