What do we buy
The National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) will be used to meet the identified user’s requirement for voice projection units (VPUs) produced by AirBoss Defence Group as part number 088701. All VPUs purchased under this standing offer are for use in conjunction with AirBoss’ PC4 model gas mask. The VPU ensures clear and concise communication with members of the public while the gas mask is in use.
How do we buy
- The NMSO is a sole source, for a duration of 3 years with the option to extend the offer by 2 option periods of 1 year
- This NMSO procurement strategy was chosen as AirBoss is the only known manufacturer and distributor of VPUs that are technically and operationally compatible with the PC4 model of gas mask, which is also produced by AirBoss
- Call-ups over $40,000 must be authorized by the standing offer authority
- The standing offer authority is the contracting authority for all federal identified user call-ups above $40,000
- Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative identified users that issue call-ups are the contracting authority for that call-up and resulting contract
Socio-economic aspects
Not applicable.
Value / Savings / Considerations
As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of the standing offer. Canada benefits from having quick access to AirBoss’ VPU equipment as well as being able to use an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements.
